➡️ We are probably over-indexed on the flashiest parts of AI in the consumer world and under-indexed on the things that will just make hundreds of billions of dollars in B2B.
➡️ The high prices companies can charge for replacing labor are likely temporary. As AI matures, its margins will align with traditional software models.
➡️ We’re currently wired to automate ~3% of corporate work through compute jobs—but imagine applying that same approach to the other 97%. It’s going to be wild when we can send off multiple jobs at once for full agentic workflows—whether it’s research, roadmap creation, or customer experience. The upside here will be massive.
➡️ It doesn’t really matter who achieves an AI breakthrough first—whether it’s OpenAI, China, or anyone else—because within three months, an open-source version will likely exist. As a result, most usage will trend toward open models since the trade-offs are minimal.
➡️ It’s nearly impossible for a standalone company to compete in foundational models when giants like Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic dominate the space. Even if you’re going after a deep vertical or niche, you’d still need to build all the surrounding software to deliver the model in a usable way—just selling tokens isn’t a sustainable business model.
➡️ Building a massive moat in AI will likely require the same playbook enterprise software has used for decades: capture proprietary data, build sticky workflows, and create network effects that compound value over time. As AI systems get more embedded into large organizations, switching costs rise & stickiness increases.
