Cyera CEO: Growing One of the Fastest Security Startups on the Planet
EP 142 of The Logan Bartlett Show: For people building companies - from the people who’ve done it.
How Yotam Segev scaled Cyera from 100 - 550 employees in under 2 years ⬇️
Cyera is currently one of the fastest-growing cybersecurity startups in the world, and in my latest conversation, he talks about everything it takes to operate at that speed, and why going slow can actually be riskier.

➡️Lessons from scaling unnaturally fast
As Cyera scaled from 100 to 550+ people in under two years, Yotam realized values like "smart, humble, hungry" were their most scalable asset. Carity around who thrives at your company enables more consistent decision-making at scale. In hindsight, Yotam realizes that going fast always has less friction than going slow. If you’re growing, things are easier.
➡️ The massive cyber security opportunity
In cybersecurity, it’s not about how good your overall defenses are - it’s about your weakest link. A company can be averaging great security across the board, but one small vulnerability can still lead to a major breach. That’s what makes cyber such a huge opportunity for startups: security teams are constantly hunting for fast, best-in-class solutions to fix those gaps before it’s too late. Unlike some other industries, speed and quality really matter because CISOs know that waiting could mean getting hit.
➡️Interface design isn’t just for products—it’s for teams
I asked Yotam what operational mistake he would avoid if he started over, and he pointed to the chaos that comes with scale (more people and less clarity). His fix: thinking of each team as having an “interface” with the rest of the company. Some teams, like sales, have simple metrics, timelines, and priorities. However, many don’t, and that leads to confusion. Defining how a team works, what it prioritizes, and how others should engage with it reduces friction and keeps everything moving smoothly.
